What motherboard is needed to use i7 Nehalem processors? I have a P5Q pro currently. Am I correct in assuming that it doesn't support the I7 Nehalem processors? If so, what is a good motherboard to get to use with them?

First things first, I moved your topic to a more appropriate sub forum but still...
Second, back to your question. There are two different sockets for Intel Core i7 desktop processors, LGA-1366 and LGA 1156. (There is also Core i7 for mobile processors)
LGA-1366 supports Core i7 (920, 930, 940, 950, 960) & Core i7 Extreme (965, 975, 980X) processors
LGA 1156 supports only Core i7 (860S, 860, 870) processors
Since ASUS P5Q Pro has LGA 775 socket, it doesn't support any processors from the Intel Core i series...
There are a lot of choices for a suitable motherboard which I can't comment...

How can you brick the motherboard of your laptop if you install a wrong BIOS update driver? Isnt this supposed to be just a software issue...I mean how can the installation of a wrong BIOS update driver brick your laptop's motherboard that you have to get it repalced?
